How to Create a Cronometer Profile
Tracking your macros and nutrients is essential for success on a keto diet. Cronometer is one of the best food tracking apps available, offering both desktop and mobile versions. While the mobile app is convenient, I highly recommend using the desktop version for its ease of use.
You can access the desktop version here: https://cronometer.com/
This guide will take you through the step-by-step process of setting up your Cronometer profile to ensure accurate tracking. If you need additional details, you can also check out the Cronometer User Manual: https://cronometer.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360018472272-Profile-Settings
Step 1: Set Up Your Account
Log in to Cronometer and create an account.
Once your account is created, go to the Profile tab under Settings.
Step 2: Profile Settings
In this section, enter your sex, weight, body fat percentage, and activity level. Cronometer will automatically calculate your BMI (Body Mass Index) and BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) based on the details you provide.
There are two key settings I want to highlight here:
Activity Level
I recommend selecting Sedentary or Lightly Active.
Unless you are a serious athlete or training for a marathon, avoid choosing Moderate or Very Active, as it may overestimate your calorie needs.
If you're using wearables linked to Cronometer, keep in mind that adding back calories burned from exercise can lead to overeating unless you're a high-performance athlete.
Body Fat Percentage
Knowing your body fat percentage is essential for setting accurate macro targets.
Watch my video "How to Calculate Your Macronutrient Targets" for guidance on determining your body fat percentage if you do not have access to a scale that can provide this data for you.
Step 3: Setting Your Macronutrient Targets
Your macro targets will determine your daily intake of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats.
Watch the video "How to Calculate Your Macronutrient Targets" to learn how to customize your settings.
If you need assistance, I can guide you through this process to ensure your macros align with your health goals.
Step 4: Understanding the Fasting Feature
The fasting tracker is only available in the Gold Subscription or when working with me.
If you are incorporating intermittent fasting, upgrading to Gold may be beneficial but it is not essential. There are many fasting tracking apps that are free.
Step 5: Display Settings
General Display
Set your display preferences to show overall Calories.
Select which carbohydrate column you want to display. I recommend choosing Net Carbs (total carbs minus fiber).
Diary Groups
Organize your meals by selecting the number of diary groups.
If you're eating three meals a day, keep the default breakfast, lunch, and dinner groups.
If you follow two meals a day (OMAD/TMAD), rename them to Meal 1 and Meal 2 and deselect any extra groups.
Nutrition Scores, Highlighted Nutrients, and Nutrient Balances
You can leave these at their default settings unless there is a specific nutrient you want to focus on.

Step 6: Linking Devices
Cronometer allows you to connect wearables (such as Fitbit, Apple Health, or Garmin).
If you are planning on tracking your ketones and blood glucose it is good to know that the KetoMojo device integrates with Cronometer.
Once linked, your workouts and activity data will be displayed in your diary.
Remember: Unless you're a professional athlete, I recommend not relying on exercise calories to increase daily intake.
Step 7: Sharing Your Data
Sharing your food diary with a friend is only available in the Gold Subscription.
However, if you’re working with me, I can manage your diary through my Cronometer Pro account.
This gives you access to my custom foods and recipes.
I won’t have access to your personal account or passwords—just your food diary.
